Alabama Football Recruiting Prospects

If you’re looking to bolster your defensive line, Alabama is stacked at cornerback. Jahlil Hurley, Eli Ricks, Dylan Lonergan and Tony Mitchell are among the state’s top cornerback prospects. The Crimson Tide have five stars in each of their next two classes. Mitchell is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound defender. Alabama has two five-star defensive backs in the class of 2019.

Jahlil Hurley

The Crimson Tide have landed another early commit in the form of 6-foot-2, 170-pound safety Jahlil Hurley. Hurley, a product of a Florida magnet high school, was a Class 7A First Team All-State selection as a junior last season and a Second Team All-State selection as a sophomore. Hurley was offered a scholarship to play cornerback in college, but had previously expressed interest in several SEC programs and also Michigan.

Dylan Lonergan

The 2020 cycle will have plenty of quarterbacks and wide receivers to choose from, and two of them will be committed to the Crimson Tide. Two players from Georgia have already signed with Alabama, while another is on the verge of doing so. Despite the fact that Alabama was able to land two four-star quarterback prospects in the last cycle, it is difficult to gauge their true potential. These three players are both good enough to contribute to the Crimson Tide’s 2019 recruiting class, but we have our doubts about their future.

Jahlil Lockwood

The second most highly ranked tight end prospect in Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class is a former Ohio State commit, Jahlil Lockwood. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound tight end visited Tuscaloosa last week and accepted a scholarship offer from the Tide. He is the 18th commitment in Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class. Cooper Petagna, a 247Sports national recruiting analyst, believes Lockwood has excellent versatility as a receiver and projects as a high-level multi-year starter.

Eli Ricks

There are many positive things to like about Eli Ricks, Alabama football recruiting prospect. His football skills are borderline elite. He can extend and contort easily while playing low in his stance. His explosiveness in the short area is outstanding, and he can make key adjustments without much time to react. He can catch passes away from his frame and track high-point throws in stride. But Ricks has some concerns to work on.

Eli Ricks’ measurables

A scouting report has detailed Alabama cornerback Eli Ricks’ measurables for the 2023 NFL Draft. Listed below are his top measurables and some analysis of his upside. He has excellent talent and a high ceiling. But he needs work in order to reach that ceiling. If he doesn’t play well in the fall, Alabama will likely be without him. If you’re a coach interested in recruiting a cornerback, check out the details of his measurables.

Eli Ricks’ commitment to Alabama

It’s easy to understand why Alabama is excited about Eli Ricks’ commitment to join the Crimson Tide’s offense, and it’s easy to see why. The 6-foot-2 linebacker is a strong prospect with a long, athletic frame. Ricks’ near-elite length affords him an extremely wide disruption radius. He’s a highly explosive short-area athlete with solid top-end speed and long strides that can carry receivers upfield.

Ty Simpson

Coach Nick Saban has been wooing quarterback Ty Simpson from the Bay Area for several years, and it seems that he has struck a good rapport with the four-star offensive lineman from St. John Bosco in Bellflower. The former Long Beach Lakers wide receiver will likely finish his senior year at UT-Martin and be among the most successful offensive linemen in school history. However, his recruiting story doesn’t stop there. The Alabama football team is still in the early stages of their recruiting process, and Greene has the ability to play a variety of positions.

Nick Saban

The success of Alabama football recruiting is a testament to the skills of the coaching staff and Nick Saban. While there are rules set by the NCAA for recruiting, Saban’s method of identifying high school prospects has proven effective for years. The coach personally calls prospects, explains the Alabama culture, and travels the country to meet with parents and high school coaches. He takes time away from his coaching duties to focus on recruiting.
